Gothenburg Centre for Marine Research was initiated during spring 2011. The aim is to strengthen interdisciplinary marine and maritime research, by promoting multidisciplinary collaborations between researchers from different disciplines at University of Gothenburg.
A primary ambition for Gothenburg Centre for Marine Research is to stimulate meetings between researchers that have not collaborated earlier to any large extent. These meetings will promote discussions and development of ideas that may lead to new and innovative research..
The centre focus on multidisciplinary approaches to solve more complex issues and to challenge problems at the border of traditional disciplines.
Activities arranged by Gothenburg Centre for Marine Research range from meetings focusing on small groups of researchers to larger events open for anyone that is interested. Mainly we target the scientific community at University of Gothenburg, but activities such as seminars and conferences are generally public events. Read more about upcoming activities here.
Here the PhD students will come together from different university faculties and work in "paired projects". Read more about the multidisciplinary graduate school in marine environmental research here.
Our collaborators and links to other organisations with similar activities are found here.
